Designing for Accessibility Posters

Designing accessible services is critically important. As teachers develop online lessons and resources the posters can be helpful in determining how to make the content available to all students. The accessibility posters provided by Home Office covers best design practices for low vision, deaf and hard of hearing, dyslexia, motor disabilities, and users on the autism spectrum. These posters are made shareable through a Creative Commons license which allows everyone to share.

As school districts are reopening after physical closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic, support will be necessary to ensure that all students are successful. The purpose of the GaDOE Checklist for Georgia's Tiered System of Supports is to help the school and/or district level leadership when reopening after closures support the effective implementation of Georgia's Tiered System of Supports for Students at Tiers I, II and III, and for all students, including students with disabilities. Additionally, the checklist helps to assist in evaluating and strengthening supports when providing specially designed instruction, co-teaching, and evidence-based interventions for students with disabilities, whether served virtually or face to face. The checklist is not an exhaustive list, serves as a starting point for many reopening considerations.

The Georgia Learning Resources System (GLRS) is a network that provides training and resources to school district personnel, parents of students with disabilities, and other interested individuals to support the achievement, graduation rate, and post-secondary success of students with disabilities. Although schools and businesses were physically closed the last months of school during FY 20, due to the COVID-19 pandemic the GLRS network provided remote support to local school districts in meeting the state-identified priorities and regionally-identified priorities. Throughout the state 7,338 participants took part in a total of 1,122 sessions which included meetings and professional learning. Check out the Quarter 4 Report that outlines the GLRS support provided to local school districts and communities in the state of Georgia from April 2020-July 2020.
