One in five children ages 13-18 have or will have a severe mental illness. This crisis has an impact on public education. 37% of students with a mental health condition age 14 and older drop out of school, which is the highest dropout rate of any disability group (National Institute of Mental Health. www.nimh.nih.gov). For other facts on the mental health of children and teens, see the following document from NAMI. GaDOE's Office of Whole Child Supports Mental Health, and Well-being team invites you to attend a webinar series focusing on mental health awareness in the educational setting.
