Families face many challenges, especially when caring for children with behavioral health needs or coping with grief. Finding support can feel overwhelming, but the Community Service Board of Middle Georgia offers several peer-led groups designed to help families connect, share, and heal. These groups provide a safe space for caregivers and family members to find strength and understanding, while also offering practical support such as dinner and child care.

Support for Male Caregivers with D.A.D.S
D.A.D.S. is a dedicated male empowerment group designed specifically for male caregivers, providing a supportive community where men can connect, share experiences, and grow together. Led by Leon Garren, the group focuses on fostering a positive environment that encourages open dialogue about the unique challenges and joys of caregiving.
Stronger Together: Family Support for Behavioral Health Challenges
Families of children facing behavioral health challenges often encounter overwhelming emotions and complex situations. The Stronger Together group, led by Amber Wilkes, provides dedicated, personalized support to help these families find strength and hope.
Navigating Loss with the Grief and Grief Group
Grief affects everyone differently, and finding support during such times is crucial. The Grief and Grief Group, led by Neicy Patterson, helps individuals navigate all types of loss, whether from death, separation, or other life changes. This group provides a compassionate environment where members can express their feelings, share stories, and learn coping techniques.
What Makes These Groups Unique
Each group is peer-led, meaning the leaders have personal experience with the challenges the group addresses. This approach creates trust and relatability, making it easier for members to open up and support one another. The groups are free and open to the public, removing financial barriers to participation.
Providing dinner and child care during meetings removes common obstacles for families who want to attend but struggle with logistics. This thoughtful support allows caregivers to focus fully on the group experience without worrying about meals or child supervision.
Building a Stronger Community Together
The Community Service Board of Middle Georgia’s support groups show how peer-led initiatives can make a real difference. They provide more than just meetings; they create spaces where families feel heard, valued, and supported. These groups help caregivers and family members build resilience, improve their well-being, and strengthen their relationships.
