What is MTSS?

MTSS stands for Multi-Tiered System of Supports. It is comprised of 3 tiers of support with each tier focused on the meeting the individual students needs.
 

Universal (Tier 1) Support:
This is the foundation of the MTSS framework, providing high-quality, evidence-based instruction and support to all students in the general education setting.
 

Targeted (Tier 2) Support:
For students who don't make sufficient progress with universal support, this tier offers more focused interventions, such as small-group instruction or additional tutoring, to address specific skill deficits.
 

Intensive (Tier 3) Support:
This level provides highly individualized, intensive interventions for a small percentage of students who need significant support beyond the other tiers.
