About the event
The Visual Impairment Fireside Chat Series is a year-long virtual learning opportunity designed for educators and support personnel who work with students who are blind or visually impaired. Across four one-hour sessions, participants will explore practical strategies for increasing access, independence, participation, and success throughout the school day.
Sessions will address classroom organization and environmental access, accessible instructional materials, assistive technology, meaningful participation, and collaboration with teachers of students with visual impairments and orientation and mobility specialists. Participants will have opportunities to discuss classroom challenges, share effective practices, and identify strategies they can immediately apply with students.
This series is appropriate for general and special education teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, instructional coaches, assistive technology staff, administrators, and other personnel supporting students with visual impairments. Participants may attend individual sessions or participate in the full series.
