About the event

Evaluating and recommending AAC as a school-based therapist has never been easier.  This course is designed to help SLPs in Georgia understand the process of considering low to high-tech solutions for students with limited to no natural speech, including considering potential funding sources.  SLPs will learn how to identify and engage team members in the evaluation process, complete an assessment based on funding sources, and create an initial implementation plan for the team.  Documenting AAC in the IEP will be reviewed. 1. Participants will compare and contrast evaluation procedures for school-based SLPs considering all AAC solutions for students based on funding sources. 2. Participants will learn the process for funding speech-generating devices based on funding sources. 3. Participants will learn how to document AAC in the IEP during the evaluation process and once a device based on recommendations from the Georgia Department of Education. 4. Participants will identify local and statewide resources to help support them in the evaluation and implementation process.
