About the event

The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Fireside Chat Series is a year-long virtual learning opportunity for educators and support personnel who work with students who are Deaf or hard of hearing. Four one-hour sessions will provide practical guidance for improving communication access, classroom participation, academic engagement, and a sense of belonging.

Topics will include accessible classroom communication, visual supports and academic language, classroom acoustics and listening environments, assistive listening technology, inclusive group discussions, self-advocacy, and collaboration with teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, educational audiologists, interpreters, and families. Each session will combine practical strategies, participant discussion, and collaborative problem-solving based on real classroom needs.

This series is appropriate for general and special education teachers, paraprofessionals, speech-language pathologists, related service providers, instructional coaches, administrators, assistive technology staff, and other personnel supporting students who are Deaf or hard of hearing. Participants may attend individual sessions or participate in the full series.
