About the event

Stronger together! This session will present current research on language, cognitive, and academic development, and their application to evaluation within a comprehensive, research-based framework for generating valid data to support conclusions and decisions regarding the presence or absence of various types of disorders in multilingual learners.  Main topics include: understanding the true nature of bias in testing that undermines true peer assessment; the resulting problems regarding test score validity; how typical methods fail in establishing test score validity; use of a broad, comprehensive framework for evaluation that can be utilized by any practitioner regardless of bilingual capability, use of the free and commercial versions of the Culture-Language Interpretive Matrix (C-LIM), C-LIM+Achievement Test Extensions (C-LIM+ATE), and True peer Estimator (TPE) for establishing true peer assessment.  The knowledge and skills gained in this session will be useful to practitioners at all levels and provide a solid base for engaging in the evaluation…
