About the event

Students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) struggle with forming and maintaining relationships with typical peers. When placed in separate classroom settings, friendships are even more challenging to achieve. The STAR Buddy Program curriculum was designed based on the evidence-based practice of Peer-Based Instruction and Intervention to support teachers in providing effective inclusive programming for their students who are primarily taught in separate classroom settings. Participants of this training will (1) learn about the importance of inclusive programming for students with ASD, (2) receive the STAR Buddy curriculum, (3) learn about the pilot implementation of the STAR Buddy Program in a local Georgia school, (4) and analyze how the STAR Buddy Program could be implemented in their school systems to support students with ASD.
