About the event
Check & Connect’s Tier 2 and/or 3 structured mentoring intervention has supported engagement among K-12 students who show warning signs of disengagement from school and are at risk of dropping out. A comprehensive intervention designed to enhance student engagement at school, Check & Connect, is a research-based program that emphasizes relationship-building, problem-solving, capacity-building, and persistence.
Key Mentor Training Objectives:
Implement Core Procedures: Learn to use the "Check" (monitoring attendance, behavior, grades) and "Connect" (timely, personalized interventions) procedures.
Build Relationships: Develop skills to foster trusting relationships with students (K-12) and their families to boost school engagement.
Data-Driven Decision Making: Use student data to identify warning signs, track progress, and determine necessary interventions.
Promote Student Engagement: Apply strategies to increase cognitive, affective, behavioral, and academic engagement.
